As we have covered in the past, buying or selling a home is a big financial decision, and it is important that you have competent, hardworking, fun, and preferably good looking representation. The last two are of course optional and geared towards my agency. (C’mon, were having fun!) Once you realize that throwing darts at a board to choose your realtor won’t suffice, call a few, invite them over for interviews and be prepared!
The questions you ask should be multifaceted. You want to make sure they are professional, courteous, hardworking, knowledgeable about your area, and that you get along with them. Your interviewing for a potentially long term relationship, so don’t go in blind. Here’s a few questions that are good to ask when a realtor comes in for an interview to list your home.

First things first: Why do I need to interview Realtors when my cousins friend is one? This is a question even I asked prior to becoming a Broker myself. It seems reasonable to use a friend or family member that practices real estate to sell my house right? We already have a personal relationship, and they will do their best for me, won’t they? Read on and see if I change your mid.
Fact: A real estate transaction will likely be the biggest financial decision of your life. Whether you are buying or selling, often hundreds of thousands of dollars will be in play during this time in your life. I love my family, but they better be the best at what they do if they are going to quarterback that big of a decision in my life.
